Wiring of Exterior Luminaires
Exterior luminaires require special wiring and installation to ensure that the IP65 Rating of the product is not degraded.
The use of conduit and TPS cables with exterior products can cause moisture to be drawn through the conduit and into the luminaire, causing malfunctioning.
Generally, products with an IP Rating of IPX4 or greater require cable glands and circular cable at the entry to the luminaire to ensure that water will not enter the luminaire. Also, measures must be taken to ensure that moisture cannot enter the luminaire via holes drilled in the body, etc. when installing.
